January 2018.. From the main man..
My fellow Clubbers..
Its nearly here - next Tuesday, 16 January, is the first day of term, so get your uniforms out and pressed.
More importantly, put £50 in an envelope with your name on the outside and give it to our beloved Treasure Ray.
If you really want to pay weekly, that's OK, but not with a pile of old 20p coins, and French francs and buttons and all the fluff from the bottom of your purse. Our beloved Treasurer has better things to do with his life than haul loose change down to the Bank. And they don't want it either. A nice new fiver and a shiny pound coin will do nicely.
We had a great concert on Wednesday at the Turks Head - the band was in fine form, and it seemed to me that everyone had a good time. If you want to read Alban Low's comments on the evening, and see his drawings, go here artofjazz.blogspot.co.uk
See you on Tuesday - its Gary Wood talking and maybe blowing into his trumpet. See the schedule for the term on a separate page of the web site.
As you can see, its full of promise due entirely to the efforts of Joe and his relentless hounding of jazz musicians. If you run up against jazz folk that you think would be interesting for us all to hear, don't be shy about telling then about RRC: get their contact details, and we will do the rest. We pay them £60 and contribute to their travel expenses, so they are well recompensed.
Remember we have added a contact form. If you have any juicy jazz news to give us, album recommendations or future gigs you've come across, do fill in the form. It will wend its way to Jo Elwin, who will post it on our 'Interesting Stuff' page for you all to share and give added joy to your jazz experience. If you would like to comment on any post, just click on 'comment' beneath the particular post and fill in the form, and it will appear. To see any comments on any posts, look below the post and click on 'comment'.
I look forward to seeing your shining faces next Tuesday at the usual time and place.
Your humble dogsbody
PS If you have lost interest in the RRC and don't want these emails any more, let me know and I will take you off the list.
